The grain corridor’s operation is on the verge of failure.
The Joint Coordination Center in Istanbul could not agree on permits for new vessels to participate in the Black Sea Grain Initiative, stated Farhan Haq, the official representative of the UN Secretary-General. However, daily inspections on previously admitted vessels continue.
According to The Guardian, the reason for the lack of agreement is the new conditions for ships that can export grain.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu announced that he is scheduled to visit Moscow on May 10 to meet Lavrov, and one of the issues will be the grain agreement.
At the same time, the Secretary General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development, Rebecca Greenspan, is already negotiating with high-ranking officials in Moscow regarding extending the grain agreement.
The National Bank has calculated that the end of the grain corridor will deprive Ukrainian farmers of $290M in monthly export revenue.
