Ten Ukrainian banks provided 95% of the banking industry’s profits.
According to 2022’s results, most banks in the country stood their ground, and some even managed to improve their performance compared to 2021, Opendatabot informs. The total bank profit last year was UAH 24.7B, which is 32% of 2021’s total industry profit. During the war, the number of banks in Ukraine decreased from 71 to 67. Out of all these banks, 46 finished the year with a positive balance and a total profit of UAH 45.5B. More than half of the profit from all Ukrainian banks, 66% (UAH 30.2B), belongs to the state-owned PrivatBank. However, compared to 2021, the bank’s profit decreased by 14%. The ten most profitable banks earned 95% of the industry’s total profit. PrivatBank took first place, Citibank came in third, and Raiffeisen dropped to fifth. OTP Bank turned out to be as stable as it was a year ago, remaining in eighth.
