The Ukrainian electricity market operator will begin preparations for the unification of the Ukrainian and European spot markets.
The market operator joined the Committee of European Market Operators, the NEMO Committee, in the status of an observer of the operation of the unified spot market of electric energy of the EU, the state company reported. All nominated market operators (NEMOs) and all transmission system operators (TSOs) of European countries have agreed to join. The EU created the NEMO Committee to settle all organizational issues related to the functioning of the unified spot electricity market – SDAC (single day-ahead coupling) and SIDC (Single Intraday Coupling). Ukraine’s NEMO observer status enables the market operator to begin technical preparation for the unification of the Ukrainian and European spot markets, trials of which may begin as soon as in the second quarter of next year.
