The head of the EC admits that Putin wants to dominate the European continent, and the Russian war against Ukraine is also a war with the EU.

The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that Europe understands the threat from Russia, which is trying to establish its control over the European continent by any means.

“What is happening in Ukraine now concerns us as well. This is a war that is about changing borders in Europe, about a European war and the destruction of Ukraine’s independence. Let’s remember that this is also a war with the EU and the entire international system,” she emphasized.

During the European Economic Congress, Von der Leyen emphasized that Putin “wants to dominate our continent, and this is not some theoretical threat, but an open goal that he has declared.” The President of the EC added that Poland knows this threat all too well, so the EU should listen to Warsaw.

Von der Leyen said that if she retains her position, she will appoint a European defense commissioner to support and develop the most modern defense industry in EU countries to protect against external aggression.
