Zhytomyr will be able to provide 30% of its city heating through recycling.

A waste processing plant is planned to open in Zhytomyr in March 2022 which will provide 30% of the energy required to heat the city. Zhytomyr Mayor, Serhiy Sukhomlyn, said that the current area of landfills in Ukraine is 8.5 thousand hectares. The plant is being built in Zhytomyr that will be able to process 85,000 tons of solid household waste.
