Zelenskyy is considering whether Ukraine should join NATO without the temporarily occupied territories.
President Zelenskyy does not reject the idea of accepting NATO membership without the territories temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation.
“The legislative invitation to NATO is extended to all territories of Ukraine, and we do not recognize all other territories of Ukraine as occupied, but NATO can act on the part controlled by Ukraine. This is a small success for us, but if we see a diplomatic way to end the war, this is the first – a security guarantee,” he said.
The president added: “The second is an arms package, and I am not ready to say publicly what it is. President Trump knows this, and there are no secrets from him. It all depends on the will of the US. Unity is also needed for this package.”
Zelenskyy stressed that negotiations with Russia are possible only after he meets with President Trump again and involves the Europeans. Ukraine’s head of state said that Trump can stop Putin because he is “afraid of him.”
As well, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said that Ukraine’s position in Russia’s Kursk region is essential to future negotiations.
