Zelenskyy expresses support for Trump’s strategies to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

In an interview with Il Foglio, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy remarked that American leader Donald Trump sends a “signal of a strong man” when he openly discusses his desire to end the war.

“We don’t know all the details yet, and I think President Trump himself is unaware of them all. It hinges on the type of peace we can attain and whether Putin is willing to end the war at all. In my view, he isn’t,” Zelenskyy stated.

The president noted that Trump comprehends the situation and is communicating to the Russian side that they need to bring it to a close because it will only deteriorate further.

“It seems to me that this is a tactic I appreciate today,” he remarked.

During the interview, Zelenskyy lamented that the US and Russia compelled Ukraine to relinquish its nuclear weapons 30 years ago in return for security guarantees. He asserted that Ukraine should have only agreed to trade its nuclear arsenal for NATO membership. Additionally, the Ukrainian president described the Budapest Memorandum as an illogical decision.
