Zelenskyy and Trump, in Rome for Pope Francis’ funeral, speak regarding the peace process and the US president admits that it is Putin who does not want to end the war.

According to President Zelenskyy, it was a “symbolic meeting” that could become historic if it results in joint efforts that lead to peace.

Afterward, the US president stated that Vladimir Putin likely does not wish to end the conflict. Trump criticized Putin for his recent attacks on Ukraine, noting that the Russian president had no justification for them.

“It makes me think that maybe he does not want to end the war but is merely leading me by the nose, and he needs to be approached differently,” Trump remarked.

However, Trump believes that possession of occupied Crimea will most likely remain with Russia, and Zelenskyy understands this. He added that regaining Crimea, which has been under Russian occupation for 11 years, will be exceedingly challenging for Ukraine.

However, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people firmly rejects any proposal that could contribute to the recognition of Crimea as part of Russia. The highest representative body of the Crimean Tatars underscores that these territories are an integral part of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders.

Nevertheless, Zelenskyy acknowledges that Ukraine does not possess enough weaponry to regain control over Crimea by force.
