Zelensky met in Brussels with Rutte and Macron: What was discussed?
President Zelenskyy and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte met in Brussels to discuss achieving a unified European position on the issue of Ukraine’s support. The parties discussed the provision of 19 air defense systems to protect critical infrastructure. Supporting Ukraine economically through the purchase of Ukrainian weapons based on the model already being used by Denmark and Lithuania is also being considered.
The NATO Secretary General stressed the need to ensure the best conditions for Ukraine in future peace talks. In addition, he confirmed that NATO has taken control of the delivery of Western military assistance to Ukraine. As well, the Ramstein format meetings will continue to exist as a political forum.
With French President Emmanuel Macron, Zelenskyy discussed key priorities for strengthening defense capabilities. Ukraine’s president delivered a list of Ukraine’s battlefield needs, as well as necessary enhancements for air defense and long-range capabilities.
