Without a strong response from the West to North Korean troops in Ukraine, the history of Crimea will repeat itself – Putin will move further.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his disappointment with the the lack of a significant global reaction to the news of North Korean troops being transferred to Russia.
“The voices of the US, NATO, Western partners, the Global South, and China do not sound as loud as they should,” Zelenskyy said.
According to him, this is very dangerous because it opens a new chapter in the war.
“It will be the same as with the occupation of Crimea. Then, there was silence from the West. Everyone was afraid of escalation… And Putin, after trying to invade Crimea, realized that he could take it over and continue doing that. Then he invaded the Donbas,” added Zelenskyy.
Speaking at the UN Security Council, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsia reflected: “We have heard that Russia will never cross this or that red line of the civilized world. But Russia does not cross the line – it walks the red carpet. A carpet made of weak responses, groundless hopes, and complacency. This is not a red carpet but a river of blood.”
