While Ukraine was negotiating a ceasefire and security guarantees with its partners in Paris, Germany provided a new package of military assistance.

On April 17, high-ranking Ukrainian officials discussed a ceasefire and security guarantees with their counterparts from the UK, Germany, and France, announced the Head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak.

Representatives from countries that comprise the coalition of the willing participated in the negotiations at the Elysee Palace in Paris, including the diplomatic advisor to French President, Emmanuel Bonn; the national security advisor to the Prime Minister of the UK, Jonathan Powell; and the national security advisor to the German Chancellor, Jens Plotner. The meeting’s primary focus was working to achieve a complete ceasefire and establishing security guarantees, particularly regarding “the involvement of a multinational military contingent.”

The Ukrainian delegation also held discussions with US representatives who arrived in the French capital, namely Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff.

Meanwhile, Germany announced the delivery of a new batch of military aid to Ukraine including three 155-mm Zuzana 2 self-propelled guns, six Bergepanzer 2 ARV, 66 MRAP FFG armored vehicles, and four WISENT 1 demining vehicles.
