While Novorossiysk was fighting off Ukrainian drones, the Kremlin complained that Ukraine is using US weapons to strike the Russian rear.

On the night of September 5, an attack by Ukrainian naval drones was repelled in Novorossiysk. The Russian Federation’s Ministry of Defense announced that two Ukrainian naval drones were destroyed in the sea near Novorossiysk, a port on the Black Sea. Early this year, Russia transferred part of the Black Sea Fleet due to strikes by Ukrainian naval drones on Crimean bases. As well, Novorossiysk is the Russian Federation’s main trade port on the Black Sea, particularly for the export of oil products.

Ukraine has three types of drones that can reach Novorossiysk: the Magura V5, Sea Baby and Kozak Mamai.

Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are striking Russian military facilities using American weapons and will continue to do so.

In response, the White House stated that claims of Kyiv’s ability to hit most of the military airfields from which Russia attacks Ukraine with the help of ATACMS is false. This was argued by the fact that Russia relocated its aircraft deep into the country, where even long-range weapons cannot reach.
