What goods dominated Ukraine’s exports at the beginning of the year?


During the first five months of the year, the main volume of commodity exports was occupied by products of plant origin – 34.5%. Inexpensive metals (ferrous and non-ferrous) lost significant volume during the war; now, they are the third largest category, with a share of 10.6%. However, fats and oil exports increased considerably, with their share at 15.9%.
Of the main export products, mineral products (54.9%), ready-made food products (27%), and products of animal origin (14.4%) increased in volume the most so far this year. Exports, in general, increased by 1.7%. At the same time, the volume of exports of plant products fell by 1.7%, wood – by 13.8%, and machinery and equipment – by 51.2%.
The top three importers of our products are Poland, China, and Spain. Spain became the leader after its imports of Ukrainian goods increased by 187% during the year. The primary exported goods to Poland, China, and Spain are fats and oils, food industry waste, ores, slags, and ferrous metals.
