What biogas projects are being developed in Ukraine?
Friday, March 8, 2024
The potential for biomethane production in Ukraine is estimated at 21.8 billion cubic meters per year. For comparison, Ukraine produced 18.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas last year. Here are several projects that are currently being implemented:
- The Yuzefo-Mykolaiv Biogas Company is implementing the fourth stage of a biogas complex project, which will refine biogas into biomethane.
- The flagship project of the Ukraine 2001energy company is Green Parkin the Khmelnytskyi region. The project is in the process of being joined with Ukraine’s gas transportation system. The installation will produce 24 tons per day of liquefied biomethane.
- The Vitagro group has a €44.1M investment plan to develop biomethane. Four total biomethane projects will appear in the Khmelnytskyi (three) and Rivne (one) regions with a total capacity of 20 million cubic meters per year. €7.6M has been invested in the first project in the Khmelnytskyi region.
- Gals Agro has already launched six biogas plants in the Kyiv and Chernihiv regions. Their current investment in biogas facilities is €33M, with another €5M invested in biomethane facilities.
