Weimar+: Europe is ready to increase support for Ukraine and demands participation in negotiations.

The heads of diplomacy from France, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Poland, Germany, and the EU issued a joint statement: “We share the goal of continuing to support Ukraine until a just, comprehensive, and sustainable peace is achieved. A peace that guarantees the interests of Ukraine and its European allies. We look forward to discussing the way forward together with our American allies. Our common goal should be to ensure a position of strength for Ukraine. Ukraine and Europe should participate in any negotiations.”
The politicians emphasized that only a fair agreement with security guarantees can become the basis for sustainable peace.
The statement follows US President Trump speaking by telephone with Putin and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, to discuss peace negotiations and the end of the war. The Foreign Ministries of Germany and Spain noted that no decision on Ukraine should be made without Ukraine.
In response, Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth said that Trump’s desire for quick peace talks is not a betrayal of Ukraine, adding that confronting Russian aggression is an essential European responsibility.
