Washington is seeking partners to monitor the ceasefire in Ukraine, particularly in the energy sector and at sea.

The United States will engage in consultations with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and several European countries regarding their willingness to oversee the ceasefire, President Zelenskyy stated, addressing Russia’s ongoing disruption of the energy truce.
Zelenskyy believes that while Saudi Arabia may face technical challenges in monitoring the Ukrainian energy sector, Turkey is equipped to ensure security in the Black Sea. According to the president, monitoring can also be conducted by the United States, the UK, France, Romania, Bulgaria, and other nations along the Black Sea coast.
Notably, US President Donald Trump is set to make his first presidential visit to Saudi Arabia in mid-May. The country is currently playing an active role in assisting the United States with mediation efforts aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
Axios reported that “the Saudis want Trump’s visit to occur following the establishment of a ceasefire” on the Russian-Ukrainian front.
