Washington demands an explanation from Warsaw regarding the suspension of military support to Ukraine.
According to Bloomberg, recent disagreements among the allies did not lead to a rupture of the unity between members of the coalition that supports Ukraine, but Washington is waiting for a clear statement of position from Warsaw.
Earlier, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced on September 20 that his country would stop supplying Ukraine weapons and focus on arming its military. Later, the country’s authorities clarified that they will continue providing weapons under previously concluded contracts but will not enter into new agreements.
Polish diplomats privately assured their foreign colleagues that Poland’s military support to Ukraine will be continued, albeit on a smaller scale. However, losing Polish support could harm Ukraine’s war effort and undermine NATO unity. The Pentagon official added that Ukraine is steadily progressing in its counteroffensive against Russia.
