US President Joe Biden will meet with Congressional leaders regarding the approval of aid to Ukraine: When, and how much, can Ukraine expect?
Biden will meet on Tuesday with four leaders in Congress to discuss the provision of assistance to Ukraine. As The Hill writes, Biden has been asking Congress for several weeks to allocate funds to support Ukraine, warning that failure would be a historic defeat that could threaten global and domestic security.
Instead, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that he hoped for the aid bill’s approval by the US Congress.
“I am sure that there will be a positive. They know that we need their support during the month,” he said.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, stated that the government expects $11.8B in direct budget support from the US this year.
He added, “This is what we agreed on… And we are deeply convinced that the US will not leave Ukraine stranded in terms of financial and military support”.
