US and Russian representatives arrived in Saudi Arabia to begin preparations for the Trump-Putin meeting.

According to CNN, a meeting between senior US and Russian officials is scheduled for February 18. The US delegation includes Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, and Special Representative for the Middle East Steve Witkoff. Russia will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Presidential Aide Yuri Ushakov.
“On Tuesday in Riyadh, they will meet with their American counterparts, primarily dedicated to restoring the entire complex of Russian-American relations. It will also be dedicated to preparing for possible negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement and organizing a meeting between the two presidents,” the Kremlin spokesman said.
Ukraine will not participate in this meeting and will not recognize any peace agreement that emerges from this dialogue, as it refuses to accept the results of any negotiations conducted without Ukraine’s participation.
The US plan is to organize a trilateral meeting with Russia and Ukraine after separate rounds of talks with each country involved in the conflict.
