Ukrainian retailers have opened 1,056 new stores in the last six months.


From January to June 2025, member companies of the Ukrainian Retailers Association opened a total of 1,056 stores and closed 326, resulting in a net increase of 730 outlets. As of July 1, there were 23,892 stores operating within 113 networks across eight main retail sectors. Most stores are concentrated in Kyiv and the surrounding region, with 5,622 stores working. The Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv regions each have over 2,000 stores, while the Odesa and Kharkiv regions each have more than 1,000. Overall, most regions show positive growth in retail development. In the food sector, 149 new stores were added in the first half of the year, representing 21% of all retail facilities in Ukraine. This retail segment is growing most quickly in the Kyiv, Lviv, and Volyn regions. As of June, Ukraine had 8,847 pharmacies, including 383 new facilities opened recently. After closing 108 pharmacies, the net increase was 275.
