Ukrainian farmers expect a high wheat yield this year.
According to a survey by the UkrAgroConsult company, most Ukrainian farmers expect a high wheat yield in 2023. In particular, 64% of respondents predict it will exceed five tons per hectare. The expected yield amounts are quite high and range from three to eight t/ha.
“Most farms (64%) expect the yield to exceed five t/ha. The most optimistic farms are in the west and south of the country, and the worst expectations are in the north. The weighted average yield is 5,46 t/ha“, the report says. It is noted that farms with larger wheat areas will get higher yields due to better utilization of technologies. Surveys show that the most efficient farms are those with a wheat area of more than 500 hectares. The lowest productivity is expected for farms of less than 100 hectares.
At the same time, many farms (58%) expect the year to be no worse than last year’s wheat yield. Among them, 12% of respondents predict increased productivity, especially in the central region.
