Ukrainian electricity prices rank among the highest in Europe.

In the first half of April, electricity prices in Ukraine have already exceeded those of neighboring countries such as Poland, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia. They are 34% higher than in Germany and 250% higher than in Sweden. This increase is attributed to the significant damage inflicted on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure by Russian shelling.
Currently, the price of imported energy dictates domestic prices in Ukraine. The weighted average price of electricity purchased and sold in Ukraine on the Day-Ahead Market (DAM) in the first ten days of April was ₴4,834 per MWh (€104.6). In most major European markets during the first half of April, the average weekly values, with a few exceptions, remained below €75 per MWh.
In March 2025, Ukraine imported 272,000 MWh (an increase of 11% compared to the previous month and a decrease of 40% compared to March 2024). The largest share of imports came from Hungary (42%).
