Ukraine’s largest producer of construction materials has bought its own fleet.
The Kovalska industrial and construction group acquired several companies and equipment to develop its mining of river sand on the Dnipro and Desna rivers. According to the company, quarries with licenses for river sand extraction, relevant equipment, and river fleet items, including self-propelled and non-self-propelled barges, pusher tugs, floating cranes, and equipment for underwater soil development and loading onto watercraft, were purchased.
The new asset, with a capacity of up to one million tons per year, will 100% satisfy Kovalska factories’ needs for river sand. The total reserves of the group’s river sand deposits are estimated at 200 million tons. Owning its own fleet and mining assets will help strengthen the company’s position as a full-fledged player in the river and quarry sand market.
Sand is the basic building material for reconstructing Ukraine – roads, production of concrete, reinforced concrete structures, and other mixtures all require it.
