Ukraine’s investment portfolio in the environmental sphere reaches $28.4B,
said the Minister of Environment Ruslan Strilets at the Tokyo economic development conference. He named four priority areas and invited Japanese companies to invest in them. In particular, he noted the following areas:
- waste management (construction of waste processing plants)
- forestry
- water supply (modernization of water management infrastructure and effective use of water potential)
- subsoil use
“When we talk about investments, we are not just about funds, but about the transit of modern environmentally friendly technologies for the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine. We expect that Japan will become one of the leaders of Ukraine’s green recovery,” the minister said.
In addition, Ukraine joined the Joint Crediting Mechanism, a program that aims to spread world-leading technologies for the decarbonization of various economic sectors through investment by Japanese organizations. Therefore, Ukraine will get access to Japanese technologies for its green recovery and support in overcoming the consequences of Russian aggression.
