Ukraine’s defense capabilities are limited and require US assistance; the Kremlin is preparing to negotiate with the US regarding Ukraine.

President Zelenskyy doubts that Ukraine can maintain its position on the front lines without US support. He noted that Ukraine lacked such support at the beginning of the war, “and the situation was tough.” However, he notes that Ukraine is now receiving full military assistance from the US and that there has been no reduction in this support.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin confirmed that the US and Russia have already been in contact regarding ways to bring about an end to the war in Ukraine. Furthermore, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated they are ready to “bargain hard” with US President Donald Trump to resolve the conflict.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov emphasized that, during negotiations, it is essential to consider the “realities on the ground” and Russia’s “national interests,” which are “determined by history and geography.” Moscow also believes that it is the US that should take the first steps to “normalize” relations with Russia.
