Ukraine’s allies recognize the importance of the Ukrainian maritime corridor and seek investment in its export capacity.
Penny Pritzker, the US Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery, believes that US support for the Ukrainian economy is no less critical for defeating the Russian Federation than military aid.
“Think about the Black Sea. Suppose we combine infrastructure, defense, and private-sector investments. In that case, we can help Ukraine increase grain and steel exports to eight million tons per month, adding up to $5B a year to Ukraine’s public coffers, reducing dependence on international support,” she said.
British intelligence said last month that Ukrainian ports exported more agricultural products than since before the Russian invasion, owing to the sea corridor’s operations. It is noted that this indicator exceeds the monthly volumes achieved during the implementation of the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
