Ukraine will seek an invitation to NATO even before the Alliance’s next summit.

Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olha Stefanishyna said that Ukraine will seek an invitation to join NATO even before the Alliance summit, which will be held in The Hague in 2025.

After the country is invited to NATO, the accession protocols are then ratified. There will be 32 decisions made by the parliament, government, or president of each member country. According to Stefanishyna, the invitation is a serious intention to discuss the future. However, the invitation is also a decision that can be made at any time, regardless of the summit.

“The issue of Ukraine’s membership in NATO will not be removed from the agenda because the allies have determined this path is irreversible. The issue of Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations has always been on the agenda at all meetings at all levels with colleagues from the US, and from the Ukrainian side, and it will not change. I believe that the issue of inviting Ukraine to NATO is an element of deterring Russian aggression,” Stefanishyna said.
