Ukraine will receive air defense systems worth $1B from NATO countries.

During the NATO Summit in Washington, Ukraine’s allies announced a $1B aid package designed to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense. The US, Germany, and Romania will transfer additional strategic Patriot batteries. The Netherlands and other partners will supply these batteries with the necessary components, while Italy will provide a SAMP-T system. In total, Ukraine will receive five additional air defense systems.

In addition, in the coming months the US and partners plan to provide Ukraine with dozens of tactical air defense systems, including NASAMS, HAWK, IRIS T-SLM, IRIS T-SLS, and the Gepard mobile anti-aircraft vehicle. These systems will further expand and strengthen Ukraine’s air defense coverage. Several NATO countries, including Canada, Norway, Spain, and the UK, will also provide these systems, and many other allies will assist in delivering interceptors.

In turn, the US will change its priorities regarding the supply of air defense interceptors abroad and provide Ukraine with hundreds of additional interceptor missiles during 2025.
