Ukraine will receive a loan of up to €50M from Finland and a $1.35B grant from the US for humanitarian and social programs.
The Government of Finland will provide Ukraine a loan of up to €50M for energy, education, and infrastructure projects. The grant represents at least 35% of the total cost, allowing preferential financing conditions. Finland is the fifth largest donor of military, humanitarian, and financial aid to Ukraine as a share of the country’s GDP, with about €2.5B or 0.9% of GDP.
Ukraine also received a $1.35B grant from the US through the World Bank, said Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal. According to him, the funding will be directed to the reimbursement of priority social and humanitarian expenses in the state budget, particularly the payment of teachers’ salaries.
Direct financial support from the US since February 2022 has reached $28.2B. This is the largest amount of financial aid provided to Ukraine among all countries in the world. This year, Ukraine expects $7.8B in budget support from the US, of which $5.2B has already been received.
