Ukraine will present the US with a list of desired targets in Russia; the OSCE gives Ukraine permission for long-range strikes.
The Ukrainian government is preparing to present to top US national security officials a list of targets in Russia that they believe could be the Ukrainian military can target if Washington lifts restrictions on the use of American weapons.
Ukraine is using this list as a last-ditch effort to convince Washington to lift its restrictions on the use of American weapons on Russian territory. While Ukraine has previously provided the US with some potential targets in Russia, Politico notes that this list should be more specific. The Minister of Defense of Ukraine and the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine will visit Washington this week for discussions with the Biden administration.
It should be noted that at a special meeting of the OSCE Permanent Council, a Ukrainian envoy appealed to international organizations in Vienna, emphasizing that Ukraine needs an immediate decision by its partners to allow the use of long-range weapons transferred by them for legitimate military purposes inside the Russian Federation.
