Ukraine will continue to transit Russian oil to the EU until the end of 2029, helping to fund the Kremlin’s war machine.

Ukraine will fulfill its obligations regarding the transit of Russian oil to Europe until the current contracts expire at the end of 2029 because this concerns bilateral relations with European countries, said Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the office of the President of Ukraine. “Ukraine has fulfilled and will fulfill its contractual obligations until the scheduled completion date… because it concerns our bilateral relations with European countries,” Podolyak said.

One EU country, the Czech Republic, is prepared for the cessation of oil supplies through the Druzhba pipeline, which passes through Ukraine from Russia, starting next year.

As well, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Gabrielus Landsbergis, said that Europe is sponsoring Russian attacks on Ukraine as it continues to buy Russian gas and oil. He added that Russian companies that sell gas and oil to Europe pay approximately €6.6B in taxes to the Russian budget. “Each Russian missile that flies to Ukraine is paid for by 12.5% with European money,” he emphasized.
