Ukraine wants to become a hub for US LNG in Europe.

Ukraine plans to become a hub for supplying American liquefied natural gas (LNG) to the EU countries and is ready to conclude relevant contracts, said President Zelenskyy. According to him, a Ukrainian team is already discussing the issue with the Trump administration, which supports such initiatives.

“We want contracts to supply LNG to Ukraine from the US. And we will be a hub for all of Europe. Why? Because we already have an industrially and naturally prepared hub – this is our gas transportation system and underground gas storage facilities,” Zelenskyy stressed.

Ukraine has the largest underground gas storage facilities in Europe, used by many European countries. Zelenskyy stated that American LNG is a typical market transaction, unlike Russian gas, which is often used as a political tool of influence.

Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi clarified earlier that in the context of Ukraine as a gas hub, this refers not only to direct supplies of American LNG but also to the storage of gas purchased by neighboring countries in Ukraine.
