Ukraine, under certain conditions, will be able to become a member of the EU before 2030.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated: “If Ukraine maintains the current pace of reforms, it will join the EU even before 2030. So let’s work and keep up the pace.” According to her, Ukraine’s accession “will become an important guarantee of Ukraine’s security in the future.”
European Council President António Costa added that Ukraine is showing extraordinary progress by carrying out these reforms during the war. As stated earlier this week, the President of Lithuania proposed January 1 2030 as an approximate date for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
It is worth noting that Ukraine has implemented 41 reform measures within the framework of the Ukraine Facility. Thus, the EU should approve the allocation of the next €3.5B tranche in the near future. However, sustained economic recovery requires long-term financial solutions, including Ukraine’s integration into the EU’s Multiannual Financial Perspective for 2028-2034.
