Ukraine, in partnership with the USA, Japan, and the Republic of Korea, will participate in a public-private consortium for scientific and practical developments for small modular reactors, Minister of Energy Herman Galushchenko said. The minister explained that the project aims to assess the technical capability, economic competitiveness, and the possibility of producing and using hydrogen and ammonia on an industrial scale using small modular reactors for clean, carbon-free energy. For this purpose, it is planned to create a pilot plant and conduct a corresponding technical and economic analysis of its operation. The project implementation term is approximately 2-3 years.
