Ukraine struck a Russian drone assembly plant and the oil refinery using drones equipped with AI.
Ukraine’s defense intelligence service has orchestrated an attack on a Shahed drone assembly plant in the Republic of Tatarstan, inside Russia, significantly damaging the production facilities from a distance of more than 1,200 km from Ukrainian territory.
Ukraine’s drone army also successfully attacked a Russian oil refinery complex with a capacity of eight million tons, which is 2.6% of the country’s total annual oil refining capacity.
Another success for the Ukrainian defense forces is the downing of one of Russia’s most expensive strike drones, the Forpost, worth $7M.
Meanwhile, CNN drew attention that the attacks by Ukrainian drones on the Russian oil and gas industry became possible thanks to an increased flight range and the use of AI to enable onboard navigation capabilities and target identification. These drones are completely autonomous once launched and do not require satellite communication to reach their targets.
Information about Ukraine’s recent development of long-range drones was confirmed by the Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov.
