Ukraine spends a third of its budget on military expenditures.
Military personnel salaries have become the largest single expenditure in the state budget’s general fund and amounted to almost UAH 520B in the first seven months of the year, the Ministry of Finance reported. Total expenditures for January-July amounted to UAH 1.64T. The largest share – 40.8%, or UAH 669.9B, was spent on wages.
The second largest item is payment for goods and services, 24.8% or UAH 406.3B. Most of this amount, UAH 276.9B, goes to the Armed Forces to purchase military equipment, weapons, ammunition, personal protective equipment, fuel, food, etc.
The third item in terms of volume was social security (pensions, scholarships, etc.) , which accounted for UAH 304.6B. Also among the largest items are transfers to local budgets (5.6% of all expenditures, or UAH 92.3B) and servicing of the state debt (7. 8% of spending, or UAH 128.1B).
