Ukraine set a new distance record for attacking enemy objects in Russia – drones have reached the Arctic Circle.

On August 21, Ukrainian drones attacked the Murmansk region for the first time. Their target was the Olenya military airfield, where Tu-95MS and Tu-22M3 strategic missile carriers are stationed. The drones covered more than 1,800 km from launch to target. The previous record was set by the Ukrainian attack that traveled 1,800 km to the city of Orsk in the Orenburg region, where a radar station designed to give an early warning of a nuclear strike (Voronezh radar) is located. Before that, an object in the city of Salavat in the Republic of Bashkortostan, located 1,660 km from the Russian-Ukrainian border, was considered the distance record. Also, on the night of August 22 Ukrainian drones attacked the Marynivka military airfield in the Volgograd region, in an attempt to destroy Su-24MR front-line reconnaissance aircraft. As a result of the attack, several strong explosions, similar to the detonation of ammunition, were heard in the region. In total, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported shooting down 28 drones over the Volgograd, Rostov, Belgorod, Voronezh, Bryansk, and Kursk regions.
