Ukraine seeks to have its EU membership be included in the bloc’s budget for 2028-2034.

The EU’s long-term budget programs should consider Ukraine’s future membership in the EU, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, at the 20th meeting of Yalta European Strategy. The minister noted that Ukraine needs macro-financial assistance and long-term support programs.

“According to EU procedures, preparing the 7-year budget for 2028-2034 will begin in February 2025. It is very important that this budget reflects the philosophy and logic of Ukraine’s expansion and membership in the EU. We hope that our partners support the project,” said Sybiha.

He added: “There must be a clear awareness that only Ukraine’s victory guarantees a secure future for Europe. We must be more decisive and act faster and more confidently in decision-making.”

The minister gave assurances that Ukraine’s European partners will assist responsibly with the unification of domestic and foreign policy with the EU and the careful implementation of Ukraine’s “homework.”
