Ukraine opened access to a new route for importing gas into the country.

From July 1, 2023 the National Energy Regulatory Commission set the tariff for natural gas transportation services through the Oleksiivka entry point at $4.45 (without VAT) per thousand cubic meters per day, reported the GTS Operator. Considering the market conditions and numerous requests from traders, the OGTSU expects active use of the Oleksiivka point’s capacity for gas transportation from Moldova, both for storage in Ukrainian facilities and for transit to other countries.

“Intermittent capacities will be available to participants, which, given the technical features of the Oleksiiivka entry point, must be reserved by submitting a daily nomination/renomination,” the message reads.

“This decision expands Moldova’s ability to store gas in Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities and expands Moldova’s access to the EU market to strengthen the region’s flexibility and energy security,” said the GM of OGTSU, Dmytro Lippa.
