Ukraine needs €7-10B annually for basic ammunition supplies.
Czech Governmental Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Tomasz Kopechny said, Ukraine’s basic need for large-caliber projectiles, and this is not only 120-155 mm but also mortar caliber 81 mm, in the current and the next two years will amount to approximately 200,000 artillery shells per month. The basic need means that the armed forces will be able to maintain balance; it is not about outmaneuvering the enemy.
“To fully provide the basic needs of the Armed Forces, Ukraine needs approximately €7-10B per year,” Kopechny estimated.
According to him, the Czech initiative for purchasing ammunition from outside the EU can source the purchase of 1.5 – 2 million shells. However, the Czech Republic currently has financial commitments sufficient to purchase only 500,000 rounds of large-caliber ammunition.
“I don’t understand why it is impossible to find this money,” said Kopechny.
