Ukraine, Moldova, and Romania are developing energy security guarantees for Ukraine and Europe.

According to a joint statement from the three heads of foreign affairs, the countries plan to increase the capacity of the Trans-Balkan gas route as part of the vertical gas corridor, including developing projects to produce green hydrogen using renewable sources.

The ministers noted that “the countries’ geographical position allows them to play a significant role in supporting recovery and to be a logistics hub for the involved companies and organizations”. They also emphasized the primary importance of developing regional electrical connections.

Moldova is ready to ensure the supply of electricity to Ukraine within the framework of a gas-to-electricity project, placing generation facilities in Ukraine and using natural gas supplied by Ukraine for this exchange. The parties also agreed to cooperate in attracting international funds and help implement projects to strengthen energy security and ensure sustainable regional development.

Romania and Moldova are also working on solutions to provide Ukraine with additional energy equipment.
