Ukraine is ready for a ceasefire starting May 7, but it must be 30 days in length.

President Zelenskyy described the initiative proposed by the Russian president for a three-day truce from May 7 to 9 as a theatrical performance intended to suggest that Russia is emerging from isolation.
“It is impossible to develop any plan for the next steps needed to end the war in two or three days. This is not a very serious suggestion,” Zelenskyy remarked.
The Ukrainian leader advocates for a 30-day truce, as suggested by the US. He also stated that Ukraine cannot ensure the safety of representatives from other countries who have planned trips to Moscow for the parade on May 9, because the Russian side may take any action against foreign guests.
“It can take various, let’s say, measures on its part: both arson and bombings, and then blame us,” Zelenskyy explained.
Therefore, he instructed Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha to communicate to international partners that Kyiv does not recommend their travel to Russia for security reasons.
The Kremlin, in response, asserted that the suggestion for a “three-day truce” is ostensibly a test of Kyiv’s willingness for long-term peace.
