Ukraine is increasing gas production and expects to get through the winter using domestic resources.
State companies Ukrgazvydobuvannya and Ukrnafta in January-August increased their production of commercial gas by 7.7% compared to the corresponding period last year – up to 9.8 billion cubic meters, said the head of the Naftogaz group, Oleksiy Chernyshov. He also clarified that the group’s oil and condensate production during this period amounted to 1.3 million tons against 1.2 million tons last year. The plan for the current year is two million tons.
According to him, Naftogaz is one of the largest investors in the country’s economy, with an annual volume of investments and capital expenditures of about $2B.
Recently, Chernyshov said that, thanks to the increase in gas production, Ukraine plans to get through the winter period using only Ukrainian-sourced fuel. In addition, Naftogaz has a reserve in case of emergencies, purchased abroad with EBRD funds.
