Ukraine has signed bilateral security agreements with Denmark, Italy, and Canada.
The agreement with Canada stipulates defense support for Ukraine for a year, a principled position on supporting Ukraine’s membership in NATO, specific opportunities for cooperation in defense production, development of cyber security, demining, and protection of critical infrastructure.
At the same time, President Zelenskyy said, “We have signed a security agreement with Italy. We emphasize the key aspects of cooperation in the defense sphere at the European and Euro-Atlantic levels”.
The day before, Ukraine and Denmark signed an agreement on security cooperation and long-term support. It is emphasized that Denmark is the first non-G7 country with which Ukraine has concluded such an agreement. In 2024, Denmark’s military support will amount to at least €1.8B. In addition, the Danish Fund for the Support of Ukraine has allocated €8.5B for support to Ukraine in 2023-2028.
In the near future, Ukraine will sign a similar agreement with the Netherlands.
