Ukraine has several principled objections within the peace plan’s framework, but Trump believes that Zelenskyy is ready to cede Crimea for the sake of peace.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Georgy Tykhyy stated that Ukraine will not recognize Crimea or any other part of its territory as Russian, will not agree to restrictions on its military or defense industry, and will not accept military assistance limitations from partners or a ban on its participation in alliances. Ukraine also insists that any peace agreement be grounded in international law rather than capitulation and emphasizes the importance of clear security guarantees.

At the same time, US President Donald Trump thinks that President Zelenskyy may be willing to cede Crimea for peace.

Meanwhile, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that Ukraine should not accept Trump’s offer to relinquish territory in exchange for a ceasefire with Russia, as this would be similar to capitulation. He noted that Kyiv recognizes that to achieve a sustainable and genuine ceasefire, it may be necessary to relinquish certain territories, “but they should not go as far as the American president’s proposal.”
