Ukraine has only $6B of budget funds for defense purchases.
In 2024, Ukraine has $6B to purchase weapons, particularly from domestic manufacturers, said Oleksandr Kamyshin, Minister of Strategic Industries. As he clarified, the entire defense budget for the current year is about $40B, of which $30B is for salaries and payments to military personnel. The remaining $10B, considering the costs of fuel, lubricants, and uniforms, $6B remains for the purchase of weapons.
“This is the amount we currently have in contracts for our manufacturers, primarily Ukrainian, and it is very little, as our production capabilities are three times larger,” Kamyshin explained.
He added that Ukraine is negotiating with foreign partners to purchase products from the Ukrainian military industry with the subsequent transfer of this equipment and weapons to Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
The minister also said that Ukraine is able to provide for its needs in several areas through domestic production. In 2024, this will include armored vehicles, all types (land, air, sea) of unmanned systems, and artillery systems.
