Ukraine has begun the integration of its military-industrial complex into the European market.

Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin and European Commissioner for Internal Trade Thierry Breton discussed the possibility of integrating the Ukrainian defense industry into the European market.

“On this track, we are talking about joint productions and projects with European companies,” Kamyshin said.

Among the urgent issues is the supply of explosives and gunpowder in sufficient quantities to Ukraine. The question is complicated because of global shortages. The officials also discussed the possibility of financing purchases from Ukrainian manufacturers using European funds.

Meanwhile, the German arms concern Rheinmetall plans to start production in Ukraine by next year. According to CEO Armin Papperger, the company expects to sign an agreement to produce Fuchs armored personnel carriers and Lynx infantry fighting vehicles early next year. The first Fuchs is planned to be released within 6-7 months, and Lynx – within 12-13 months.

In addition, Lithuania is interested in cooperation with Ukraine in defense industry research and development.
