Ukraine has agreed on favorable insurance terms for container transportation by sea.
According to Yuriy Vaskov, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Ukraine has increased its indicators for goods turnover through seaports to about 75% of the pre-war level through the use of the Black Sea corridor.
However, he noted that since the beginning of the blockade of the western borders, most Ukrainian importers, and exporters of products with a large added value have faced problems with transportation. Therefore, they are very much waiting for the resumption of sea container transportation.
According to Vaskov, the Ukrainian government received consent from several British Insurance companies that are ready to provide attractive conditions for the insurance for such shipments. Currently, insurance rates for ships bound for Ukrainian seaports reach 1% or even less of the insured value of the ships. In the first weeks of operation of the alternative corridor, ship insurance rates reached 3-4%.
