Ukraine fell to 25th place in the world ranking of steel producers.

Last year, Ukrainian metallurgists smelted 6.3 million tons of steel, compared to 21.4 million tons in 2021. As a result, Ukraine moved from 14th to 25th place in the global ranking of steel producers, showing the biggest drop among all countries in the ranking, by 70.7%, according to Worldsteel data. In general, last year, the global production of crude steel decreased by 4.2% compared to the 2021’s indicators, from 1.96 billion tons to 1.88 billion tons. The leaders among the steel producing countries are China, India, Japan, the US, and Russia. Only India managed to increase steel its production, by 5.5%, last year among the five leaders. All other countries showed negative production dynamics.
