Ukraine beef producers increased meat exports by 260% this year.
In January-May 2023, Ukraine exported 9,600 tons of beef, which is 260% more than in the same period last year. According to UCAB, May was the most productive month as Ukrainian producers sold 2,500 tons of beef abroad, which is 42% more than in April.
“Due to the war, the ability to export meat and meat products from Ukraine became difficult. Before the war, the share of beef transportation by road was only 22.4% compared to 77.6% exported by sea. However, even under such difficult conditions the geography of supply lines has not changed. If Ukrainian exporters will continue to supply customers at the same level until the end of the year, then we will be able to approach the volumes of 2021,” predicts UCAB analyst Maksym Hopka.
The largest importers of Ukrainian beef were: China – 5,800 tons, Uzbekistan – 1,040 tons, Azerbaijan – 1,060 tons, and Kazakhstan – 590 tons.
